The North Carolina jobless rate rose in December to its highest point in several months, according to employment figures released Tuesday by the state’s commerce department.

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased month-over-month by a slight 0.1% to reach 5.1% in December. While that’s lower than the state’s 5.6% rate in December 2015, it remains above the U.S. unemployment rate of 4.7%.
